History of Ron (The Bear) Weltz

November 3, 1998

The South Edmonton Warriors Lacrosse Club lost an enthusiastic, hardworking individual with the passing of Ron Weltz in 1998.

In the short time that Ron was involved, he had a real impact on many people. He held various executive positions and was always ready and willing to assist anyone who requested help. Ron could be found assisting with coaching, managing a team, filling the position of registrar, or providing laminated player lists for those fortunate enough to be on his team. Ron never failed to show up with numerous items for door prizes or silent auctions, when needed. A dedicated husband and lacrosse father, his enthusiasm and love for life and people was infectious.

The South Edmonton Warriors Lacrosse Club is honoring Ron's memory by renaming our tournament after him. We trust that his spirit of sportsmanship, fair play and love of the game of lacrosse will be exemplified in this tournament. Here's to you, Bear!!!
