Warriors 2018 Halfway Season update

May. 24, 2018

Good afternoon Warrior Parents and players!

We are now halfway through our regular season of box lacrosse and just want to keep in touch with the membership.  Our teams are busy gaining confidence in their skills and abilities and are looking forward to the second half of the season as the temperature heats up.

We are still looking for more Casino volunteers.  The link to the Casino Worker Application and volunteer schedule is on the website under the volunteer tab.  Please complete the application, choose 1 or 2 preferred shifts, roles and times so we can organize the days.  Please send the completed application to volunteer@warriorslacrosse.ca and Natalie & Trish will get back to you to confirm your slot at the Argyll Casino Aug 5 & 6, 2018.  Thanks again for your support of this important activity for our club.

A reminder that each team must assign a Parent Liaison for every game as per the end of section 2 in the GELC handbook.  This becomes more important as we get closer to playoffs and into the post season as some parents need to be gently reminded that this is kids’ lacrosse and not a professional league.  Thanks for helping out your team, the officials and maintaining respect for the game.

If you or someone you know has Warriors equipment or jerseys from past seasons please contact us so we can make arrangements to have it returned to the storage facility for inventory purposes.

The South Edmonton Warriors Junior B Tier 1 team is playing tonight May 24 at Bill Hunter Arena at 8:30pm in a fundraiser against the St. Albert Crude.  Funds are being raised to show support for Crude player Tyler Smith who survived the Humboldt bus crash as a member of the Bronco’s.  More importantly we want to show support for a lacrosse player from within the RMLL and GELC.  This is some high calibre lacrosse to enjoy watching too.

Lastly, if you are interested in getting some Warrior Senior or Junior players to join one of your teams practices please reach out with your coach to our Vice President of Major Lacrosse Tony Materi at vpmajor@warriorslacrosse.ca to make arrangements.  There is also the Miners for minors program to contact as another great option for Senior and Junior lacrosse players to join a practice, contact jordancornfield@gmail.com to make arrangements.  Having the big boys out to a team practice is a cool experience for players.

Keep checking the website for updated practice and game schedules.  Lastly, please ensure your team has verified their team picture proofs with Studio Photography so that the club can then pay for and have pictures prepared for pick up!

Stay cool and have a great weekend!
